This is terrible news. Right now, the Governor has total control over our lives, passing regulations and rules that have the force of law. Our Constitution clearly states that it is the job of the Legislative Branch – not the Executive Branch to write these laws. Over the years, the legislature has ceded much of it’s power over to the Executive Branch (the Governor and all of the agencies make up the Executive Branch). By not calling the Legislature back into session, he has grabbed even more power over our lives for a much longer period of time – likely now until January.
If this concerns you as much as it does us, please work to get Republicans elected this November. There are still two Democrat legislators in the 19th District that need to be replaced by Republicans. Only by gaining back a majority can we do something to reduce the size and scope of the government that has become such a heavy burden.
